The Beans Have Been Passed (Literally!)

Our son started No Sleep Roastery five years ago with a noble mission: bridge the gap between standard and specialty coffee. In plain terms, make exceptional coffee that’s approachable, not pretentious.

He built a loyal following, roasted incredible beans, and ran the business until life, work, and the joyful exhaustion of parenting called for a break. The roaster cooled.

Then we showed up.

After 20 years of active duty and another 10 years in the world of defense contracting, we figured retirement might involve fishing, quiet mornings, and maybe a little gardening. Instead, we moved to Idaho to be closer to our grandchild and accidentally took over a coffee-roasting business.

Life’s funny like that.

So here we are: retired (ish), relocated, and now fully in charge of roasting operations at No Sleep Roastery.  We never saw this coming. But between being closer to our grandchild and discovering we are oddly obsessed with perfect roast profiles, we are so excited to share truly great coffee with you.

Our son and daughter (the younger, tech-savvy half of this operation) run all things social media. So if you see a meme that doesn’t involve fax machines or landlines, assume they made it.

We’re roasting again, shipping again, and offering up exceptional small-batch coffee alongside some very cool merch like hats, mugs, shirts, and probably more things we don’t fully understand but were told are “on brand.”

We’re proud to be a family-run roastery in the beautiful western region. Idaho suits us. The air is fresh, the views are stunning, and the elevation somehow makes our medium roast even better (seriously).

Thanks for supporting us, whether you’ve been here from the start or just stumbled across a post about espresso on your lunch break.

Come for the coffee. Stay for the mission.

And if you see us around town, we’re the ones wearing the No Sleep Roastery merch, sipping our third cup, and chasing a toddler.

From our family roaster to your favorite mug,

Stay warm, stay wired,

—The (Over-Caffeinated) Parents
